January has already been a rollercoaster of emotions for me so far...
If you've been following my updates on social media you'll have seen that Nutmeg gave me a scare on New Years day; fireworks are always a worry for me after what happened to Maz
(Here's the link to my Facebook video explaining a bit more about my anxiety surrounding fireworks https://www.facebook.com/FrancesDixonIEC/videos/994310731149278 )
I'd chosen to leave her out again (as I'd done for Bonfire night) but the Yard owner had messaged me earlier on in the night saying she'd been galloping round - the village hall very close to the yard had done a display which had caused the panic.
I went to bring her in New Year's Day and my heart sank, she was VERY lame :-(
All I could think was "no, not again, I can't go through this again, not her..." - I left her in that night and prayed.
Thankfully the next morning she was looking a lot better and I am relieved and pleased to say two weeks on she's looking pretty much back to her normal self. Our amazing Chiropractor had a feel over her and basically came to the conclusion that she'd had a massive headache - we suspect, if she'd been galloping around, lets say towards the gate for example, she's slipped in the mud and essentially crashed head first into it/something. It was a relief to me because although she was seemingly sound on the hind leg in question, I was convinced she just wasn't quite right; it was like her whole left side was just "off" somehow and I was sure she was carrying her head and neck off to the right.
I'm planning on easing her back into work - although she is pretty keen to crack on! - so hopefully our Cross Country Goals won't be put on hold for this summer
On another exciting note, I'm pleased to finally be able to announce that as of February, I will officially be joining Equilibrium Products as (the Northern based) Retail and Events Executive!
I've been working the Show circuit on the trade stand with them as a brand since early 2020 (before the world turned upside down) and I'm honoured to have been asked to join the team.
It really feels like the right opportunity at the right time to truly give my attention to FDIEC as a "business" not just a "side hustle". I'm so proud of all that I've already achieved, just imagine what I can do if I actually give it 100% of my time and energy...
